Jacob of Green Gables

Dave took the boys on a father/sons campout several weeks ago. While there Jacob found the best stick "in the whole world" because it had a sharp pointy end. (I'm thinking it was probably the worst stick in the world) He loved this stick for about 10 minutes then became curious if it would float in the river. I guess that it did and floated down the river. As he watched it float away he suddenly realized that the stick that he loved more than life itself was gone. He quickly burst into tears and hysterics about his stick for the next 2 hours. For a moment that he calmed down he asked his dad "Did you get a picture of the stick?"
Finally he stopped talking about it or so we thought but now 2 weeks later we hear about it every other day. "I just can't stop thinking about my stick" complete with tears and everything. I have recently been reading Anne of Green Gables and I have to say minus the red hair, Jacobe could pass for Anne any day with his depths of despair.

Lily and Matt and the destruction of a whole box of kleenex Tom Ari in the tree Matt's birthday
Yesterday the boys had a school holiday so Dave took a day off and we headed for the mountains. My awesome husband loves to ski and spent many hours on the slopes, but that was all before he married me. I would love for him to ski but life happens with a family and budgets exist and it makes skiing a hard hobby to maintain. Plus we spent about 3.5 yrs in Minnesota where you get lots of snow but not a single ski hill in sight-what a waste of snow. The last couple years, I have tried harder to give my husband chances to ski. We even went out about 3 years ago and purchased all the gear at a rental store going out of business. And I close my eyes as I see how much we pay, tell myself it is all worth it, and then smile. (Remember I am cheap so skiing just wouldn't naturally be on my radar.) This year for Christmas I gave my husband 2 lift tickets purchased for a great deal at Costco. First of all, I am used to spending lots of money at Costco and that way I wouldn't stress ...
